The Challenge

Expanding an established residential building like Eagle Lofts requires a security and life safety infrastructure that matches the existing property while functioning seamlessly across a new 18-floor tower. Management needed a reliable, on-premise system to secure 318 new apartments, manage high visitor volume at the front desk, provide robust perimeter access, and maintain life safety compliance across all levels.

The Solution & Scope of Work

Vertex Security built and installed a comprehensive, on-premise security, communication, and life safety network tailored for the residential expansion:

• On-Premise IP Video Surveillance: Installed 40 local IP cameras backed by an on-premise recording system configured for 24/7 continuous recording with 30 days of retention. Provided mobile app connectivity for residents alongside a dedicated monitoring station at the front desk.

• Keyscan Access Control: Implemented an on-premise Keyscan access control system across 14 critical doors, giving front-desk staff centralized credential management and entry oversight.

• DSC Front Desk Alarm System: Integrated a 29-zone security alarm network featuring a dedicated front-desk monitoring console for immediate alerts and fast on-site response capabilities.

• Aiphone Audio Intercom Network: Set up an audio-only, 2-wire Aiphone intercom system consisting of 1 main entrance panel, a master station at the front desk servicing all 318 apartments, and 6 back-of-house intercom units for internal staff communication.

• Emergency Area-of-Refugee Communication: Installed an 18-floor analog, audio-only 2-way emergency communication system for designated rescue assistance points. Connected the system directly to a local phone line and an off-site monitoring service to guarantee reliable life safety communication during emergencies.
