The Challenge

The RWJBarnabas Health Red Bulls Performance Center required an enterprise-grade security and IT infrastructure capable of securing a multi-building, high-profile professional sports campus. Facing expansive indoor and outdoor grounds, high daily traffic from players, staff, and visitors, and critical assets across multiple specialized zones, the New York Red Bulls needed:

• Unified Campus Oversight: Eliminating fragmented monitoring systems across 5 separate buildings and outdoor training grounds.

• Granular Perimeter & Door Security: Securing nearly 100 access points while accommodating both standard key fobs and mobile credential access for diverse personnel tiers.

• Extreme Environmental Resilience: Extending high-speed fiber data infrastructure and hardware across harsh outdoor environments without signal loss or physical vulnerability.

• High-Capacity Data Backbone: Supporting robust, real-time video surveillance feeds and IT communications without network latency.

The Solution:

Vertex Security engineered and deployed a turnkey, enterprise-level security platform designed for complete operational control, high-definition video surveillance, and future-proof network reliability.

1. Unified Enterprise Security Management

Deployed a centralized Genetec enterprise-level security platform serving as the command hub. This unified system integrates access control, video monitoring, and intercom systems into a single interface for 24/7 security management.

2. High-Definition Commercial CCTV & Surveillance

Installed a site-wide surveillance network featuring 131 Axis IP cameras. The deployment includes indoor, outdoor panoramic, multi-sensor, and motorized PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) cameras, delivering 360-degree visibility across fields, entrances, and indoor facilities directly to the central command center.

3. Advanced Access Control Integration

Integrated Genetec Access Control paired with high-security HID readers across 96 doors spanning 5 main facility buildings. The system supports multi-factor entry methods, including traditional physical key fobs and encrypted mobile credentials.

4. Integrated IP Intercom Communications

Positioned 3 Axis network IP intercoms at critical access points, seamlessly tied into the unified Genetec software for instant two-way visual and audio communication with control room staff.

5. Industrial Fiber Optic Network Infrastructure

Designed and pulled a high-performance fiber optic backbone connecting 24 site nodes—including 5 buildings, 5 core IT rooms, 8 indoor closets, and 5 underground pathways,routing back to a central headend. To maintain network integrity across outdoor training grounds, Vertex installed 15 custom NEMA-rated outdoor IT rack enclosures.

6. Structured Data Cabling & IT Room Buildout

Executed full structured cabling, running 2,000 Cat6 data drops, each rigorously confirmed with Fluke certification testing. Outfitted and racked 8 dedicated IT rooms and network closets with patch panels, cable management, and power distribution to guarantee high-capacity data flow.
