The Challenge

Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, Covenant House New York required an enterprise-grade security and AV setup tailored for a high-traffic community facility. Serving vulnerable youth, the property needed a reliable system that maintained strict entry control, provided complete video oversight across indoor and outdoor spaces, and delivered functional AV for resident programming, all while standing up to continuous daily use.

The Solution & Scope of Work

Vertex Security built and installed a large-scale security, access, and audiovisual infrastructure designed for around-the-clock operations:

• Keyscan Access Control & Egress System: Installed 81 HID card readers covering all exterior entries, interior doors, and 2 elevators for credential-based entry. Paired with 33 Bosch request-to-exit motion sensors across controlled doors to ensure safe, immediate exit during emergencies.

• Property-Wide IP Video Surveillance: Deployed 112 IP cameras, including 104 interior dome cameras across corridors and common areas, 6 weather-resistant exterior dome cameras covering perimeters, and 2 corner-mount elevator cab cameras for complete visibility.

• Integrated Facility Audiovisual Systems: Outfitted common areas and programming rooms with 18 Samsung smart TVs, 3 Apple TV 4K units, and 2 Yamaha soundbars. Installed 28 indoor speakers and 8 outdoor speakers to provide clear, facility-wide audio coverage for staff and residents.
